I hate to admit but I probably have owned way more kitchen gadgets then I even have room for. Most of the time they sit on the counter or in a cabinet collecting dust because I infrequently use it. As much as I would love to have one of those kitchens you see in a magazine with beautiful uncluttered countertops, I have come terms with reality that just isn't me. My counters have stuff on them, mostly stuff I use often but also some stuff I can't get others to put away (like my hubby's corner of papers).
I got rid of my blender/food processor years ago because I was tired of looking at it. It took up too much space and I needed something smaller. I replaced it with a Magic Bullet. The Magic Bullet has worked great but just doesn't seem powerful enough anymore, it is probably on it's last days. I was thinking of upgrading it, until I saw a friend using an Immersion Stick Blender for different recipes.
I did a little research and asked a few opinions but in the end I bought the Kitchen Aid brand of the Immersion Blender on Amazon (KitchenAid KHB2351OB 3-Speed Hand Blender - Onyx Black). Oh my, why did I never own this gadget before? I feel like it is the best thing since sliced bread. It certainly has impressed me and stepped up my smoothies to a whole new level. My set came with a small little food processor too, but I haven't used it yet. It also came with a whisk attachment and I have gone crazy with it. I've made whip cream and it only takes seconds to make your egg whites come to stiff fluffy peaks. I'm also getting really good making Ice-cream and Smoothie bowls.
I have to say I just love my Immersion Blender and how it can easily be stored without taking up counter space. I didn't know all the time I would be saving by using this tool in my kitchen! I should have bought one years ago. I look forward to learning more ways to use this gadget with other recipes.
Do you own an Immersion Blender? What ways have you used it in your kitchen?
